KEITH NEWELL

RO - Midlands-North

As my father worked for BMC I was sustained on a diet of Austin, Morris, Riley and Wolseley motor cars. Not surprisingly my first venture into classic car ownership was in 1984 when I purchased a 1963 Morris 1000. Over the next two decades, the car won four National Rally awards in Condition Class before progressing into Masters Class. At that level, the nightmare of driving to all events ( stone chips and all ) removed much of the pleasure and I sold the car in 2006. That is when my association with the Mercedes marque began and since then I have owned three E Class, two 190s , one B Class and two SLKs ( I was the Model Register Captain for two years ). I am now the proud owner of a 1994 C Class ( Elegance ) in Pearl Blue that is in concours condition. I am looking forward to helping the Midlands-North Region move forward in my new role as Regional Officer especially around the organising of Club events and activities. As for my other classic car passion, I own a 1976 Triumph Toledo in Mimosa Yellow. The car was originally supplied by Hewitts Garage in Walsall. I am the fourth owner and remarkably the car has only covered 11,000 warranted miles.
