The CWGC is a global organisation, caring for war graves at 23,000 locations in more than 150 countries and territories.
One of the main locations in our region is at Halton, near Wendover, and we have an opportunity for a guided tour of this site, followed by tea and cakes afterwards in the church (separate payment). The churchyard of St Michael & All Angels is located very close to RAF Halton, the military camp set up just before the start of the First World War which from 1922 was the home for RAF Apprentice Scheme training. In 1927 the Princess Mary’s RAF Hospital Halton was established in the camp, providing medical care for sick and injured personnel from the armed services. Today the churchyard is the final resting place for 104 Army, Air Force and Naval personnel from the two World Wars, along with a further 161 military Non-War Graves. Many of the casualties buried here have links to the RAF Halton camp.
Suggested donation is minimum £5.00 per person on the day.
