Fintail Saloon Model Register Day

> Back to Events

Join us on the Railway Straight of the Brooklands Circuit at Mercedes Benz World on 13th September 2026 to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the introduction of the W110 model, a car I have been familiar with since my childhood. I don’t believe the Club has ever held a Fintail Saloon Model Register event, and it’s long overdue.

Mercedes Benz “Fintail” saloon cars made their debut in 1959 with the introduction of the W111 model, a spacious four door saloon fitted with 6-cylinder petrol engines [220, 220S and 220SE]. In 1961 the series was expanded with the W110 model designed to take 4-cylinder engines [190 and 190D]. In 1965 with the introduction of the second generation four- and six-cylinder Fintails in the W110 body [200, 200D, 230 and 230S].

There will be catering available both on the display area and inside MB World. There will be the opportunity for a limited number of participants to take part in parade laps around the MB World handling circuit. The plans are still unfolding and there will be further announcements closer to the time about everything on offer on the day.

The London Region has been hosting a “Great Get-Together” and model Register Anniversary event at M B World, Brooklands for a number of years towards the end of the Season. This year in addition to the 65 Years of the W110 we will be celebrating 45 Years of the C126 SEC and also 140 Years since Gottlieb Benz patented the first petrol-powered car, the Benz Patent-Motorwagen. Not to mention the 100th anniversary of the creation of Daimler-Benz AG as the result of the merger of Benz & Cie with the Daimler Motorengesellschaft in 1926.
