Not known to many, but a great show close to the town of Whitehaven in Cumbria. Organised by the West Cumbria Vintage Club and billed as the “West Cumbria Vintage Club Rally” and held at Hayes Castle Farm, Distington, CA14 5YB. An event with lots of things to do, and see from steam traction engines, wartime vehicles, vintage trucks and cars, through to classic and modern cars, motor bikes and much much more. Plus traders stalls, food stalls and often entertainment as well. Last year there was even displays of Falconry.
This has been going on for almost 40 years, so it is a bit of a hidden gem. It is a family day out as well with all that is going on. If you want to have a look at last year’s rally, cut and paste the link below into your browser and see what it’s like.
The club attendance is Free, per car and its occupants, but it is essential to complete your details and hit the BOOK NOW button so that I can keep a check on how many and what cars will be attending. Nearer to the time I will be informing the organisers of final numbers and they will be sending me a “mirror hanger” that I will get to you either by email for you to print out and use or by snail mail to your home address. – whichever is best at the time. With your arrival instructions and the identifier hanging from your car internal mirror you will be ushered and directed at arrival to the MB Club stand area without the need for any entrance payment which would otherwise apply.
The club stand will be set up early on the day of the event(~08.00am) and your arrival for club stand attendance is required by 10.00am before the general public arrivals is opened up at 10.30am.
This event is always held on a well-drained field (the grass is cut for the event) and the weather is nearly always kind to the day of the event.
The club has been here before but almost 22 years ago for the clubs 50 anniversary year, but I see this as potential for a regular thing each July.
