We will assemble, 10:00 for 10:30, in a dedicated parking area reserved for our group. Booking should be via the link offered using the code Merc30 which will attract a discounted price of £13.48 for all adults (16yrs+). Haynes Motor Museum is a charity so booking online and selecting gift aid; the ticket  becomes an annual pass.

Haynes Motor Museum is a charity so booking online and selecting gift aid; the ticket  becomes an annual pass.

On the Club website you are required to complete a few personal details and asked to determine how many people for whom you are planning on booking tickets before clicking “Book Now”…clicking “Book Now” does two things:

  1. It records on a spreadsheet on the Club website for my benefit (you cannot see this) who has “intended” to purchase tickets so that I know who I should expect will turn up on the day.
  2. It directs you to the Haynes Motor Museum website in order that you can purchase your ticket(s). Here you once again determine how many adult tickets you require (I am assuming adults); ignore the headline ticket price and “continue”, you will now be invited to apply the code given in the narrative of our Club website, Merc30, this will reduce the ticket price to £13.48. Proceed as instructed to giving personal details, including an email address, and paying for your ticket(s). Your ticket will be sent to you by email from Haynes c/w a QR code.

Some of us will be making a short weekend of the event by gathering at Kingsley Café

off the A40, Eynsham, just west of Oxford, for a coffee, or possibly breakfast, at 09:30 Saturday 19 October, followed by a scenic drive to arrive in Sherborne, claimed to be one of the most beautiful towns in England, early afternoon. “Poke around” Sherborne; maybe take in some “culture” and/or afternoon tea. If it is a fine weather day we will dwell a while en route to Sherborne and get reasonably close to the Stonehenge Stones for free, by taking a short walk (circa 15 minutes) from the junction of Fargo/Willoughby Roads, Larkhill; SP4 8NS.

I have made a booking for Saturday evening dining at The Clockspire restaurant; any member wishing to dine as part of a Club group should let me know so that I can liaise with The Clockspire about numbers…we will be delighting in their £60pp “A Taste of The Clockspire” tasting menu which can be prepared to suit individual allergies. The menu is seasonally adjusted so it is unlikely to be as per the menu currently shown on The Clockspire’s website.

Similarly I have made arrangements with The Eastbury Hotel, Sherborne for members to receive preferential rates B&B on the Saturday night 19 October (£170.00/couple in a Luxury or Superior luxury double, or £190.00 in a Garden Room) held until 24 August. Any member wishing to take advantage of this arrangement should telephone the hotel 01935 813131 and advise that they are part of the Club group (do not book online); a 20% deposit will be requested. Once you have booked with the hotel it would be helpful if you could let me know please.

The Eastbury is about three miles from The Clockspire (short taxi ride) and circa a 20 minutes drive from the Haynes Motor Museum.

Any member electing not to stay at The Eastbury Hotel, but nonetheless overnighting close to Sparkford, is still welcome to dine with the Club party at The Clockspire.
