Cumbria Regions first Christmas evening celebration – meal and B&B accommodation at the Greenhill Hotel, Red Dial, Wigton, CA7 8LS – a beautiful red sandstone Georgian mansion, set in nine acres of parkland.
This will our first formal social gathering with friends and partners, and I’ve certainly been able to get a lovely setting. The hotel will be dec’d out festively and we will have sole use of the private conservatory for our meal together which will be from either the standard menu or the festive menu whichever is your preference.
I will send out menus to people who have booked – in order that you choose and get back to me your preferred meal choices so that I can get the chef sighted a week or too beforehand.
Since discussing this event in the August Cumbria Newsletter there has been much contact with me to book rooms and I must confirm that if you have written to me already then your room is confirmed – but I must point out that there are now no further rooms available unless cancellations occur – the hotel is keeping me posted on that score.
Attending the hotel for the evening meal and meeting up with club members and enjoying a lovely social evening remains open to all members who wish to attend but who will be driving or be driven home.
There is an upfront cost that the club will collect for everyone’s B&B accommodation costs at the time of hitting the BOOK NOW button – the hotel will later invoice for settlement which the club will then undertake. This way, when checking out the next day, members will only have food and drink to settle that they have charged to their room. If you have already received an email reply from me for your room please hit the BOOK NOW button for your confirmed room type and settle up with club at the room price shown. You only need to book one room ticket – irrespective of whether you are single or double occupancy.
Members who wish to attend for the evening meal and the social scene but then drive or be driven home at the end of the night will need to settle up their food and drink costs at the end of the night before leaving. When you hit the BOOK NOW button for this option there is no upfront cost to make. For this option you should book the number of tickets that match the number of people coming.
The start time shown on the event form is the check-in time for members staying on B&B accommodation. The end time is simply the checkout time the next day.
The Evening meal is planned for 19:00hrs on Saturday the 23rd November – the finish that night (or early morning) is simple up to us.

Parking and access is on all on the level with a few shallow steps into the hotel but there are steps and stairs to negotiate with the hotel to get around.
