This year our region is supporting the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC) annual National Drive-It Day with a drive of about 58 miles across North Wales. The FBHVC Drive-It Day is in support of the NSPCC Childline and if you wish, you can also purchase an FBHVC car plaque to display on the day – monies for this go to NSPCC Childline and it can be bought by going to the website https://www.driveitday.co.uk/shop
We will meet at the Rhug Farm Shop on the A5 near Corwen (postcode LL21 0EH) at 10.00am for a coffee and/or bacon butty from their “On the Hoof” takeaway cabin.
We plan to leave the Rhug Farm Shop by 10.45am latest, for our drive across North Wales to Fron Goch Garden Centre, near Caernarfon, for a Sunday Roast Dinner at 12.30pm in their restaurant. Unfortunately, I am not able to reserve tables, however they have indicated that if we are there by 12.30pm we should be able to eat but we may not all be sat together. After lunch you will have the opportunity to have a wander around the garden centre and stock up on your spring plants.
There are several route options to get there but my suggested route for the day is the A494 to Bala, then A4212 to Trawsfynydd, then A470/A487 via Penrhyndeudraeth, Tremadog up towards Caernarfon, then the A4871 and turn left onto Pant Road to Fron Goch Garden Centre. According to Google maps this should take 1hr 25mins but allow a bit more for traffic!
If you want to go via the A5 through Betws-y-Coed, then A4086 via Pen-y-Pass and Llanberis this is another option and we have covered some of this route before.
If the Rhug Farm Shop start point is not convenient for you, you are welcome to join us at any point along the route, or even meet us at Fron Goch Garden Centre for lunch. Whatever your preference, please still book and let me know when/where you will join us. This is just for my information only so I can account for everyone throughout the day.
