The time has now come when I must part with my excellent RHD, Military G-Wagen Scout.
This is due to age...not the truck but mine.

I use this as a daily driver around Norfolk.

This truck is effectively a Mercedes G Wagon convertible.
A few buyers have taken these Military Trucks and “civilianised” them with new paint, seats from the G Class, sound proofed, re-tuned etc...and some in the USA have converted them to a Beach-Buggy style...not my style but an interesting project for some.

The car is fully serviced and has had a complete brake overhaul, Discs to the front and drums to the rear. New pads and shoes, new brake cylinders, new vacuum pump replacement servo, and fluid change.

Power steering, new “V” belts. Cab heater is excellent.

MoT in March with no advisories. Waxoyled and Lanoguard so no rust anywhere.
Mileage is 8,100 miles. (Yes only 8,100.) All fluids and lubricants changed within the last 1000 miles including all filters.
The mileage will increase as this truck is my daily driver.

24v with a step-down transformer to run SAT’ Nav’, ‘phone and dash-cam. Fire extinguisher and first aid kit. Military tow hitch with electrics, jerry can and rear mounted spare with cover and a L/R drivers side step.

I will include the dash camera.

Original military specification, bridge plate, convoy lights, tactical lights, I have replaced the weak sealed beam lamps with new lens and replaceable H4 high light bulbs to headlamps. It has a front tow pin. Fixed Battery isolation switch and fixed ignition. There is a replacement ignition/lock barrel in the spares package Rubber cabin and rear mats.

This vehicle is the equivalent of a Landrover Lightweight air portable in that it can be stripped down, doors off, canvas off and screen down but with the advantage of a roll bar...which can also be removed. It has an effective heater, power steering, proper seatbelts, high sills so it will wade to 1 metre, water proof engine bay.(all electric high with a snorkel to the alternator and high air intake).

It is RHD and has the un-burstable, detuned OM 616, 2.4 diesel at 74bhp, Bosch mechanical injection, with a 4 speed manual gearbox. Selectable 2 or 4 wheel drive, low ratio and locking rear differential, (not connected). Servo assisted brakes and power steering. The Bosch fuel injection system can be re-tuned to deliver more “umph”.

The rear cover has been refurbished with new windows and fastenings, It has the 2 piece fast removable doors and integrated roll bar that can also be removed. Rear door storage as well as a fixed, lockable large tool box in the rear.
The rear door has a webbing storage bag system fitted. There is a hard spare wheel cover..

2 comfortable front seats with belts, head restraints and 2 side jump seats in the rear also with belts. There is a lockable tool box, and under seat storage.

The tyres are Goodridge ATs with very little mileage

For seperate negotiation I can include a load of essential spares as listed below worth a considerable amount as they include many hard to find and expensive parts:

Please remember that this is a military truck with the usual peculiarities. It is noisy, slow and does not handle like a Ford Fiesta but it will go anywhere, is rare in the UK , and would not be out of place at a military or classic car show. It is a hoot to drive and use as a daily driver.

It has a higher ratio rear differential so will do easily 60mph and eventually 70 mph. Best speed is about 55mph. Only ever had BP Ultra fuel during my ownership.
My mechanic says that the rear diff lock is disconnected. Not an issue for me as I would hope not to be in a situation where I would need to lock the diff’.

I will, of course, listen to sensible offers near the asking price but, please do not be offended if I reject unreasonable or speculative offers. I can, possibly deliver within 30 miles of PE31 7E*.
Please study the images as they are an essential part of the description. Carry out a bit of research and ask your questions before viewing. I have the technical knowledge of a small house brick but I will answer the best I can.

Remember that this truck is now 35 years old... and, while not rusted, the paintwork, (Mercedes Singapore Grey), has been touched up in places.

Unless you have fully comprehensive insurance to drive another vehicle, or MVT membership, I will be doing the driving while you fiddle with the knobs and stuff….bring ear plugs!
