Clive Henderson, Author at The Mercedes-Benz Club

I was born in and subsequently lived in North Wales until the present day. I have always had a passion for most things mechaincal especially cars and so commenced a motor vehicle technician's apprenticeship in mid 1969, spending my entire working life in the retail motor trade until my retirement in 2019. During my working life I progressed from apprentice to Technician and then various supervisory and technical roles within British Leyland and Rover Group dealerships, becoming Service manager in the early eighties. I continued in this role at a number of businesses before commencing the role of Dealer Pricipal at a Peugeot dealership in 1997, a role I performed until my retirement. I've long held a great respect for the Mercedes-Benz brand and decided to purchase an R129 in 2005, my first Mercedes-Benz was a 1996 SL320 and I joined the Club in early 2006. In July 2008 I was appointed as Regional Officer - Wales, North and Borders, a role I performed until September 2022. Since 2008 I havebeen appoint to various roles within our Club, including Model Register Captain for W215 CL and R129 SL, Assistant to the Regional Development Director and Regalia Manager. In addition to my Director - National Events role and responsibilities, I am a Club Valuer for North Wales and Cheshire, NEC Stand Organiser, Model Register Captain - W212 / A207 / C207 E-Class and Gazette Editor in Chief. I have derived great please from my various Club roles and my efforts have been recognised by the Board in presenting me with Model Register Captain of the Year award, the Scott Moncrief Trophy in recognition of my work in organising significant Club events and in 2022, the Shakeshaft Trophy for my work with my Wales - North + Borders Region. During my Club Membership I've owned a few Mercedes-Benz models, the oldest being a 1983 W123 280CE, one of the most impressive was a CL55 AMG but my favourite is the W124 model range. I've owned eight of this model range, two saloons, one Coupe and five estates, my current "fleet" consists of a 1992 300TE and a 2012 E350 CDi Sport Cabriolet.
