Bradwell to Burnham in Essex, Drive and Lunch

> Back to Events

We start our drive in a very remote area of Essex, on a Saturday morning meeting at 9.30 am for Tea, Coffee, Homemade Sausage Rolls and Cakes at a residential Home in Bradwell-on-Sea which will cost £4 per person for us to pay CASH on the day. We have use of the Function room, toilet and free parking on the grass in the grounds of the home.

You can bring any car, but it would be good to bring our Classic Cars for the residents and their families to view while we are there. We leave approximately 10.45am for a 5 minute drive to The Chapel of St Peter-on-the-wall, there is free parking here but no facilities. We will take a 15 minute walk to the church on an easy stoney path, so need sensible shoes. It is one of England’s oldest churches, a Saxon Chapel built by St Cedd around 654 AD on the ruins of a Roman Fort (Othona) with costal views. The church is a Grade 1 listed building and still holds services in July and August. It is open all year for visitors to go inside. Then we can walk another few minutes to the coast to see the view.

When we have finished we will then drive 6 minutes to the RAF War Memorial. It is a representation of a crashed Mosquito Aircraft with it’s nose buried in the ground and it’s tail in the air. It is well worth a visit, just pull over and have a look it is on a big open area with empty roads.

After this we will drive 21 minutes to the Burnham-on-Crouch Marina to park, as we are booked for a 1.00pm lunch on the Marina. So we have plenty of time to get there. In the restaurant you need to register your car for free parking. I will send out menu’s nearer the time for your food choice. They have The Main Menu and a Lunch Menu you can order from either one and pay on the day.

If you are interested in joining us please book on the club website, per person, No money to pay at this stage as we pay on the day. Please advise if you want refreshments and lunch for catering purposes.
