Cumbria Region Christmas Party and Stopover

This event is the Cumbria Region annual Christmas dinner and hotel B&B stop-over.

This year it is arranged to be held at a hotel that was once an old hunting lodge by the river Calder. This is SellaPark country house hotel located at Calder Bridge, Seascale CA20 1DW. If you prefer to use what3words the location for their carpark entrance is league.protests.unusable

SellaPark is part of the Pennington Hotels group who own the Muncaster castle that we visited and had a great time at last year. The management and team are extremely proud of their refurbished property, with a beautiful lounge bar, Priory restaurant and relaxing bedrooms. All areas have been respectfully updated giving a modern, light & airy feel to this beautiful hotel and there is 7 acres of wonderful garden areas with paths to the River Calder.

The event is booked for the evening of Saturday 19th December 2026.

Evening Christmas meal menu will be sent out several weeks beforehand, then you can make your choices and send these back to myself for me to pass on to the hotel. Rooms for this event are provisionally reserved and must be firmed up to the hotel no later than 4 weeks before the event date.

For that reason bookings for this event will close on the 21st of November in order that numbers can be finalised and advised to the hotel in good time to be invoiced. Also, cancellations will not be possible after the 21st of November.

This will ensure that as per last year you only have the costs of drinks against your room to settle in the morning after your hearty full Cumbria breakfast. The popularity of this event last year would suggest that you get your slot booked as soon as you are able.

SellaPark’s offers a choice of twenty-six luxury bedrooms (eleven in the main house, 10 in the SellaBarn and a further five in the SellaGrange Annexe). I have arranged for the standard double rooms for us. Quality fabrics, linens and furnishings enhance the beautiful accommodation offered by this historic property. As standard all bedrooms have luxury toiletries, direct-dial telephones, LCD TV and iron and ironing boards, plus a host of thoughtful little extras. As you would expect from a friendly country house hotel, they also offer dog-friendly rooms. You must let me know if this is a choice you wish to take up after you have booked.

There are 10 double rooms reserved for us and I have secured a few more if needed, but I would suggest that you book and make payment to the MB club as soon as you can to ensure you have your participation in the Cumbria Region Christmas evening event is guaranteed. I have negotiated a very good discounted B&B rate for the club and for the meal — which is always a really good plate full for the hearty appetites amongst you.

Double room B&B accommodation and evening meal for 2 people is £217.

Single room supplement with B&B accommodation and evening meal for 1 person is £168.

If you wish to just come for the evening to enjoy a meal with club members but not stay over at the hotel than that is fine too. Cost for the 3-course evening meal only will be £39 per person.

Timing for your arrival is any time after 1500hrs and the timing of the evening meal on the 19th December will be around the 1900hrs as per previous years after which we will have our usual year summary speech and prize giving before we move out into the lovely and spacious conservatory lounge area to continue chats, drinks and merriment.

All outside areas are tarmac'd and on the level. Some steps into the property and a a few within the property. Stairs need to be negotiated to get to rooms. Dog friendly rooms are available but you need to request this option directly with myself as your regional representative.
