Day at the Coast and a Drive to Lunch

We will meet at Shoebury Common Beach at 9.45am as the cafe opens at 10.00am they will open earlier if the weather is good, and they only sell drinks This is a Blue Flag Beach with ample parking and toilet facilities. Parking at present is £1.10 per hour.

You can choose to sit on the beach, walk the promenade which has views of the Thames Estuary, or join us at 10.45am for a 45 minute circular walk around the Gunners Park on the seafront. This area used to belong to the Ministry of Defence, it became an experimental and practice artillery range, and all the buildings are listed Grade II. The path is flat which is ideal for wheelchairs.

Around 12.30 or earlier we can then enjoy a 13 mile Coastal Drive along the Southend Seafront leading to Leigh-on-Sea and then on to The Lobster Smack pub for lunch, which is on the Sea Wall at Canvey Island. So you can have a Sea View Walk.

If you would like to join us for the Lunch this needs to be booked on the Mercedes Website as you will need to pay £5.00 per person this is for the Lunch Deposit. The food prices are average you can get an idea from their website, but there will be a new menu in April which I will send to you. I will need food requests and deposits by 24th May for me to send to the restaurant. You will pay the balance of your food on the day.

For a wheelchair user, there is a ramp behind the pub but you would have to get down 3 steps to the door and then 1 more step into the pub. Due to where we are eating dogs are not be allowed.
