Day at the River,
We will meet in the Cafe at the Museum of Power in Maldon at 9.30 am, you can order coffee and food if you wish. They will be opening their doors earlier at 9.00 am for our arrival.
The cafe has been refurbished so there is plenty of room, and designated parking will be arranged for us by the museum. At 10.30 am the Museum Manager has offered to give us a 20 minute tour of the Power Station for a Donation.
When we have finished we will then take a 15 minute walk to the best kept secret in Essex. “THE BEELEIGH FALLS” its a series of Locks, Platforms and Falls, where the tide merges into the fresh water. The Falls is where the River Blackwater meets the Chelmer Navigation. Some people who live in Maldon have not heard about it.
We can then have a 30 minute Country Drive to the pub for our lunch, which has been booked for 1.15pm, they have a marquee for us to use. This is a 16th Century Freehouse located on the River Blackwater, next to the Marina at Bradwell on Sea. We can enjoy some river views before we go into the Pub. If we cannot all park in the Pub car park, we can park in the Marina which has over 100 spaces and cost £2 cash for the whole day. If you would like to attend please book on the club website, if you have problems call the club office and they can help you.
This event is pay on the day, as we do not need to pre-order food, but I do need to advise the Cafe and Pub on the number of members wishing to eat. The Cafe has snacks and cooked breakfast. The Pub has special offers and a menu, we can choose and pay when we arrive.
