Our Drive-it-Day starting point is Café 19 at The Community Centre, Hunts Road, Duxford CB22 4RE. For our benefit this friendly café is opening an hour earlier than normal and we plan to arrive between 9am and 9.30am; you can order breakfast or just a beverage on arrival. There is a large car park.
At Café 19 we will provide you with a 5-page itinerary indicating trip mileages, places of interest and potential stops for refreshments and toilets. Also, an overall route map, a town walking trail and 5 street plans will be emailed to you. If you are a sole driver, in order to avoid the safety issue of trying to read a map whilst driving, we will help you team up with a two-person car to follow.
From around 10.00am we plan to start leaving with around 10-minute intervals between cars, just to avoid forming tailbacks on narrow roads – but it’s not a time trial! This is a leisurely tour through countryside and towns so please make stops on the way and take some photos of your car/yourself during the day!
The cost is £10 per car, booking deadline 8 April. After you have booked online, please email to me car registration and model, and names of occupants – please also confirm whether or not you expect to be ordering food/drink in Café 19 at Duxford.
