Grampian Drive-it Day

> Back to Events

The date of this year’s Drive-it Day run is the 27th April and the destination is the Crathes Castle We will participate in conjunction with Garioch Vehicle Restoration Society (GVRS) who are organising the event and providing the route, map and details.

The drive-it day is to commemorate the 64 cars which set off on the 23rd April 1900 on a 1000 mile Trial, an incredible undertaking in those days and one which we believe deserves an annual celebration. Back in the day it was organised by the Automobile Club, there were 83 entries of which 65 made it to the starting point at Grosvenor Place, London. Six days in, by the time Edinburgh was reached, 51 cars were still running and 35 vehicles made it back to London, having covered 1,000 miles in the 11 days.

Our run will be much more modest. The run will be about 20 miles long and will take about 50 minutes from Aberdeen Beach Esplanade to Crathes castle.

The plan can be found on https://maps.app.goo.gl/Vt8zyA6r2Vr1HAyh9

We will meet at Aberdeen Beach Esplanade just after 10:00 and depart at 10:30 am.
There will be limited catering available so packed lunches are suggested. Enjoy your run and visit.

Drive it Day is supporting Childline, please consider donating or see the fund-raising website here https://www.driveitday.co.uk/ to buy your rally plaques.
