Our first outing will be on national Drive-it-Day starting with breakfast at Simpsons Garden Centre 4 miles north of Newmarket at Station Road, Fordham CB7 5LW – chosen because we are allocated a separate area in their excellent café and because they have a large car park! This will be followed by a 35-mile drive in a northerly direction.
The £5 per person fee covers attendance at our breakfast (but not food costs) and a detailed trip mileage/directions schedule (and hopefully a Google map) which will be emailed to you a few days beforehand. The schedule will include information on five locations of interest which are optional stops along the way, and also the gardens where we end the route. A few miles from our final destination there is a National Trust house for those who wish to add that to their day out. Some of these locations involve walking on grass paths so please bring appropriate footwear.
The optional places of interest on the way are all free to park and enter; the end point gardens are free to park, and £9 pp on the day if you wish to enter (£8.25 senior). The deadline for booking is Sunday 13 April.
