An invitation has been received to provide a display of 190SLs at this year’s RAF Brize Norton, Friends and Family Day. The day is not open to the public, is completely free to attend, and is a very rare opportunity to have access to a live RAF operational base.
You’ll be able to get inside the largest planes that the RAF has and chat with pilots and crews. Planes on display last year included a C17-A Globemaster, Voyager, the Atlas A400M, and various other static aircraft. The event will consist of a funfair, static aircraft displays, a flypast, a range of food stalls, traders, and all kinds of other entertainments and festivities.
Being part of the Autosport display will give you access to the day’s events and exclusive access to an active RAF airfield. You will be parked on the 99Sqn aircraft servicing apron alongside the UK’s strategic transport fleet,
Pre-booking is essential via the Club Website events page. All attendees will then be submitted by the organisers for vetting; they will provide a form for completion and return by each person attending, once you have booked. The final registration date has been set early to ensure this process can be completed in time. Additionally, as I’m sure you will understand, a government-issued photo ID (driving license/passport) will be required to gain entrance on the day for the driver and passenger.
Specific arrival and entry times will be provided to members in advance and there is no early exit from the event due to logistic and security issues.
It will be great to have as many 190SLs present as possible at this fantastic event.

All of the display area is on a flat, hard-standing surface. Food and entertainment areas are separate and on a flat grassed area. The connection between the 2 areas is via paths and manned crossings over an internal roadway. Toilet facilities are provided via Portaloos.
