The Mendip Run

We like to have at least one decent run each season and for 2024 we have a 50 mile route exploring the Somerset Levels and the Mendip Hills. The run begins at Teals Farm Shop on the A303 not far from Sparkford.  There is plenty of parking here along with a friendly welcome and great coffee and cakes.  Or even a proper breakfast if you feel in need.  There is also a very good selection of chocolates, local produce and all sorts of other goodies.

From Teals we set off across the Levels following more minor roads as far as possible.  Our route includes a chance to break the journey at the Avalon Marshes Centre where there is ample parking, tea and coffee, a small visitor centre and a crafts centre.  

We end the run on Chew Valley Lake, close to Chew Stoke, for lunch together in a lakeside restaurant at 1pm. The views across the lake are stunning with plenty of wildlife to spot so bring your binoculars! 

We think the run will take you about 1h 45m so the latest you can leave Teals is about 11.00 if you want to pull over at the Avalon Centre en route. We shall be at Teals from 10AM to welcome members and hand out the route book for the run.
